About Yaya's

The Story Behind Yaya’s Whispers

Over a decade ago, during one of the darkest seasons of my life, an unexpected light found me in the form of my best friend’s 8-month-old daughter. She began calling me “Yaya”—a nickname that not only brought me back to life, but rooted itself in my spirit. From that moment forward, “Yaya” became more than a name. It became a calling.

Across cultures, “Yaya” carries deep meaning. In ancient Greek, it simply means “woman.” In Brazil and the Congo, it refers to a spiritually initiated woman—a “Mother” or “Mama Priestess.” In both traditions, Yaya is a title earned through wisdom, experience, and sacred transformation. It represents the journey to womanhood in its fullest expression.

My personal journey has been unfolding for over 20 years. As a Conjurer, a Holy Fire® III Reiki Master Teacher, and a lifelong practitioner of folk magic, I’ve woven together multiple traditions—Hoodoo, Southern Folk Magic, Reiki, and ancestral practices—to support others on their path of healing, empowerment, and spiritual growth.

The name Yaya’s Whispers was born from something my mother once told me:
“Candle scents whisper memories of a different time. And with your spellwork, you’re whispering your magic into the wind.”

Those words stayed with me. They felt like a spell in themselves—gentle, powerful, and true to my work. At Yaya’s Whispers, I create intentional products and spiritual tools designed to help you reclaim your power, heal past and present wounds, and transform your space into a sacred sanctuary.

Welcome to the whispers. May they guide you home.

You will also notice that the names of the intentions are funny, sarcastic or it swears. There is too much stuffiness in the Pagan community, sometimes we just need to swear out our intentions. Who said magic couldn't swear? ;)
